What is wrong with the general Filipino mentality in regards to Nationalism?

As if a Filipino if he or she is proud to be a Filipino? The usual answer you get is a circumvention to the actual answer. It is a direct question. Answer yes or no. Yet people have trouble answering this question with one word.

They will start with a reason why they are not happy with the current situation in the Philippines. Then they start going down the list on why they are dissatisfied with the government and economics. Yet they cannot answer yes or no.

A growing number of people now answer this question with a disenchanted voice indicating they can't wait to leave the Philippines for outside and greener pastures. Those people think outside the Philippines are greener pastures, yet more than half end up with broken families, living paycheck to paycheck, or are unhappy with their lives outside the Philippines. And a guaranteed 99.9 % are homesick the moment they board that plane. Some get to be so homesick that they end up flying back to the Philippines after putting down with harsh remarks how much they wanted to leave the Philippines.

There is no sense in pride. People can complain about the corrupt government. The hardship of life.

One thing I know...it has always been a hard life for more than 95 % of the Filipinos back then. And I'm talking about way back then. The same thing can be said for now. Due to the media, advance in communications, and great technological breakthroughs, Filipinos get to communicate around the world at a moments notice. Not like before, where there is a great delay. People like to compare themselves to others, and it is just natural to want things. And Filipinos are materialistic. They can deny this, but when you see them with cellphone, new fashion, and other materials then they double talk themselves. But you can't fault them. Where as before, it would take a while for the new trend to hit home, and local trends would be okay.

Nationalism is dead. But bring a war on the shore ? Would they clutter on ships or planes to leave ? Some will. But I think the majority can't due to limited supply, so they might actually be forced to have a little nationalism here and there. Otherwise, they might be killed by the enemy. Of course the sip-sip would surely survive at the cost of the life of his or her brother or sister.
