BIG Difference in Comic Books

I have just recently decided to purchase comic books again just to research characters that I want to write. I haven't been into comics for over 15 years. I will say that I was surprised when I purchased it recently.

Back then, comic books were for kids mainly. There was this comic ocde authority with a logo printed in ever cover of any comic book.

Now I was just informed it has been years since the comic code authority has been dismissed by the comic industry. The storylines are no longer for kids. It is young adult and adult oriented. I actually enjoyed reading and the art was fabulous. The paper is very sleek.

The quality has improved 1,000 percent. However, back then the price when I last bought it was about $ 0.75 or $ 1.00 per comic book. Now it is $ 2.99 per comic book and other special formats are at $ 3.99 or even $ 4.95 per comic book. This is pretty expensive for a piece of literature that you can finish reading in 10 to 15 minutes.

Yes I considered comic books literature. The storylines depending on who the writer, are respected by critics. Plus, I believe that comic books when given to a child who does not know how to read will help him or her learn to and continue to read because they are interested in reading them. Why ? The visuals make it interesting for them. Can you imagine a kid wanting to read a book without great illustrations ?

I must say that instead of buying a few comic books for research into the Green Lantern character, I have decided on subscribing to several.

I feel like a kid again. But this is going to be good reading for downtime at the office. After all I am getting tired of reading the newspaper and sports magazines in the office. Something new...for a change.

Write Handed Part 1 (revision)

The morning approaches. As the sunrises, an emerald warrior can be seen flying in the horizon. The speed is so fast he seems like a blur across the sky. In the super hero universe, it is a regular sight to behold. In this region his presence is highly unlikely. What would bring The Green Lantern in Philippines ?

He is not alone.

Coming from the outreaches of space, the Man of Steel cathes up with the Emerald Warrior. " Hal, what do you suppose Dr. Kent Nelson meant by citing ' all your presence is needed here ' meant. "

" I'm not sure. It can't be anything good. It's good to see you again Clark. " The Green Lantern of sector 2814, Earth, responds to Superman. Hal's eyebrows curl as he points on the opposite horizon, " I should have known He would be here as well. "

The Man of Steel sees ahead before Hal could point it out. A jet streaks towards them in the form of a bat. The Dark Knight has arrived. Superman understands there is no love-lost between Green Lantern and The Batman. The Kryptonian says to himself, " Looks like I'll be playing peacekeeper today. " Returning his thoughts as to why they were summoned by Dr. Kent Nelson in the Philippines bothered him. What could possibly be such a big problem in the Philippines that would even concern the archaelogist, Dr. Kent Nelson, otherwise known as the mystical Dr. Fate. There was a concerned look on Superman's face as he pondered why.
